Kelly Tripucka

Kelly joined Compass as a college basketball analyst during the 2018-19 season.  
 
A retired two-time NBA All-Star, Tripucka enjoyed a 10-year NBA career with the Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz and Charlotte Hornets. He was the 1981 first round draft pick (12th overall) of the Pistons and was named to the league’s 1982 All-Rookie Team. In 1988, he joined the expansion team Charlotte Hornets for their inaugural season and scored the first points in franchise history. In 2008, he was voted to the Detroit Pistons 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.  
 
Kelly played his college ball at Notre Dame, where he was a three-time All American and earned Academic All-American status in 1979. He was also a member of the 1978 Fighting Irish squad, known as the lone men’s Final Four team in school history. Tripucka also has the honor of being named the New Jersey High School Basketball Player of the Century by the Star Ledger (NJ) newspaper in 2000, for his outstanding play at Bloomfield High School.  
 
Kelly’s sports media experience includes NBA analysis on television for the Knicks (MSG), Nets (YES) and Pistons (Fox Sports Net); college basketball analysis for Westwood One Radio; and NBA talk shows for SiriusXM Radio. He also served as an NBA scout for the New York Knicks.
